Ethiopic Manuscript Culture and its European Analogues
I spent 2008-2009 in Ethiopia on a U.S. Fulbright Grant, working on the history and scribal practices of Christendom's last continuous craftsmanly tradition of manuscript production. I was affiliated with the IES and the EOTC, while there.
Ludus Scrabularum apud Centrum Studiorum Mediaevalium Universitatis Torontonensis
I enjoy playing Scrabble in Latin by the Toronto Rules, and have put up a web site in order to share the past-time with the community. Have a look.
The Academy of European Medieval Martial Arts at the University of Toronto
I am the founding chair of AEMMMA's campus auxiliary society, AEMMA U of T, which is: dedicated to promoting awareness, study, and training in the historical martial arts of Europe on the University of Toronto (UofT) campus and facilitating links between the academic and Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) communities. It does not engage in role-playing, re-enactment, or fantasy, nor does it seek to recreate the societal norms of pre-modern Europe. We will be having a variety of events over the course of the year, as well as arranging for discounted training for U of T students.
